The best sailing along this part of the coast (some say California) is just a bit north of Marina del Rey/Los Angeles – in the waters of the Channel Islands.
You can sail from Marina del Rey to these waters in a day or join us aboard Sancerre in Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard.

Sancerre rides at anchor Willows Anchorage, Santa Cruz Island
If you go with us, or bareboat from our harbor, it’s a matter of two hours to Anacapa and four to the premier anchorages on Santa Cruz Island.
Keep an eye on our blog and you’ll know what critters are in our area, what the National Park and Nature Conservancy are up to and about safety issues of interest to all sailors.
Whether you have your own boat, or you’re bareboating or just trying to figure out if it’s worth your sailing time, check out Capt. Dan’s Sail Channel Islands Cruising Guide.

See you on the water!!
PS Catalina Island IS one of the Channel Islands, but not part of the National Park. The Catalina experience is much more civilized, while sailing in the waters of the National Park is about quiet and solitude, sunsets and sunrises and quiet moments kayaking undisturbed coves and tide pools. Here there are no buoys, you anchor on your own. There are no cities. There are no hotels. There are precious few other sailors most of the year. It is like taking a step back 200 years in history.

There simply aren’t any better charter companies in the state. Captain Dan And his crew will show you a relaxing, educational, and extremely enjoyable voyage be it for a couple of hours or a few days.
Sailing in the Santa Barbara channel and visiting the islands should be at the top of your bucket list, if not on your monthly list. Try out unparalleled relaxation. Sail Channel Islands.
